Your Big Sussex Week
Project summary
Your Big Sussex Week takes place from Monday 16th to Sunday 22nd June 2008, promoting special offers exclusively for residents. The initiative is supported by attractions, restaurants and accommodation businesses from
Expected outcomes:
- positive PR in the local media for participating businesses
- more repeat visits from local people
- a boost for the Visiting Friends and Relations market
- increased usage of TICs
Offers: must be significant – usually 2 for 1 or something similar.
Offers must communicate to residents that they are important.
Offers can be given on a first come first served basis with capacity limits.
Some may need advance booking e.g., guided tours.
- Free entry attractions can participate by offering something e.g. tea and cake, free guide book or even put on a special event for the weekend.
Local train and bus operators are supporting Your Big Sussex Week with poster advertising for residents without car access.
Delivery Mechanisms: offers will be collated and uploaded onto Your Big Sussex Week website where vouchers can be printed. Vouchers can also be collected from TICs. Residents will have to provide proof of residence to access the scheme.
Evaluation: residents will be surveyed on site across the weekend. Questions include: would they visit again, has the scheme improved their knowledge of their local area, is the initiative positive and should it be run again. It is also an opportunity to gather information about perceptions of tourism and its impact on the local community.
