Visitors Guides:
Nights out
Whether your idea of a good night out is a quiet evening in a country pub, eating a gourmet meal in a Michelin-starred restaurant or dancing with top DJs in a hip club, here you can do all three.
The proud birthplace of banoffee pie (invented here in 1972), East Sussex has a great choice of restaurants from fancy to funky, and prices to suit. There are good Chinese, Indian and Italian places of course, and excellent seafood from fish 'n' chips to oysters. And there's Thai, Japanese, French, Mongolian, Lebanese, Mexican, Spanish... the list is endless.
There are pubs for all tastes too, from traditional country inns with real ales and the harbour-side haunts of sailors and fishermen to buzzy café bars and stylish beachfront hot spots.
For a change, hear live music or comedy at a pub or cabaret bar, or visit the theatre or a concert. For dancing and relaxing, the county has the best club scene south of London. In Brighton, Hastings and Eastbourne, club nights range from 50's through to current dance music, techno and trance, R'n'B to house, Latin to Salsa - something for everyone.
